Earth Day Texas (“EDTx”) is an annual festival seeking to elevate environmental awareness and influence the way Texans think, live and work. EDTx is a Dallas, Texas-based non-profit organization with a 501(c)(3) designation. EDTx does not charge admission to its events and all exhibitor, sponsor and donor-related income is used for event planning and production. Any surplus income that may accrue will be donated by EDTx to third-party environmental non-profits.
Tell your green story through art, film and media at the world’s largest Earth Day event.
EARTHxFilm showcases films and emerging media that explore change, impact and solutions in worldwide conservation, climate and the environment while honoring the heroes working to protect our planet. EARTHxFilm is a signature program of EARTHx, the place where environmentally conscious organizations, businesses, institutions, and brands come together to celebrate and share conservation practices and sustainable solutions that will make a difference today, tomorrow, and every day thereafter.
2017 marked the inaugural edition of EARTHxFilm with 60 films, 39 filmmakers, and over 5,000 attendees. The Festival presents a shared vision of a better, cleaner planet through the lens of the camera. EARTHxFilm’s 330 million press impressions highlight the Festival’s bold, entertaining and inspiring films that resonate nationally and echo around the world.
There were activities and films that delighted all ages: The 3D FLIGHT OF THE BUTTERFLIES among the real live butterflies, a premier of CHASING CORAL, a lively panel featuring the producer of Al Gore’s AN INCONVENIENT SEQUEL with clips and conversation, Virtual Reality that brought the future power of film to the here and now, and the 72 hour film race for young adult filmmakers.
The Festival produces vital educational programming for students as part of EARTHxFilm EDU. In 2017, the program brought screenings and discussions to 1,550 students around the state, three filmmaking workshops, and five filmmaking classes to explore ways to light the path to a better world. The online young filmmaking competition netted 24 ground breaking short films and named 11 young adult winners who received $4,500 in prizes.
Join our mission to turn awareness into action through the visual medium. Film is the art of storytelling. Let EARTHxFilm help you tell your story.
